In yet another case diminishing the "phone" part of smartphones, online research company comScore reported Monday that a monthly average of 19 million Americans, or 17.4 percent of all smartphone owners, made purchases from their smartphones in February, March and April.
This was the latest data from the company's regular three-month surveys.
How are they doing it?
Some of the most popular shopping apps that both iTunes and Google Play (formerly the Android Market) have in common include:

  • eBay
  • Amazon Mobile
  • CraigslistMobile
  • Groupon
  • Walgreens
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Living Social
