Smart Phone Adoption in India and its impact.

Many of the 27 million smartphone users in India are rapidly consuming mainstream content such as video, gaming and entertainment on their devices, driving a steady growth in mobile advertising, shows a study by consumer research firm Nielsen.

Nielsen also found that Indians spent more time on smartphones than Americans. “In India, the time spent on smartphones is 2.5 hours per day whereas for the US it is 1.5 hours per day,” said Mathur. “The reason for this we believe is in India we are leapfrogging the home Internet, we are directly going to a smartphone, which is an all-in-one device.’

India’s mobile advertising market, growing at 40% year-on-year, stands at Rs.180 crore.
