Smartphone Promos Prompt More Sales in Grocery Stores

Coupons and promotions delivered to shoppers’ smartphones while they are shopping encourage them to browse the grocery store and buy more products, says a new study by the American Marketing Association.

The research, conducted by Professor Sam Hui of the NYU Stern School of Business, used radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking to examine consumers' in-store travel and unplanned spending.
